SUMMARY:GBA Dongguan Adventure: Insights and Connections
DESCRIPTION:The “GBA Dongguan Tour” was successfully conducted on December 13-14\, 2024\, bringing together 30 alumni and students. This event aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of cutting-edge technology and the rich cultural heritage of the Greater Bay Area while fostering connections and collaboration among alumni. \nTech Journey: Visit to vivo Headquarters\nThe tour commenced with an in-depth visit to vivo’s headquarters\, where participants gained insights into the entire smartphone production process. We learned from Director Mr. Fu Fan about the innovative BlueLM (蓝心大模型)\, which demonstrates advanced AI capabilities that streamline daily tasks\, such as making restaurant reservations via AI. \nDuring our visit\, we were particularly impressed by vivo’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. To support individuals with disabilities in integrating into the digital society\, vivo has developed targeted applications\, including “vivo 看见\,” “vivo 听说\,” and the “手语翻译官.” These initiatives exemplify vivo’s dedication to technological advancement and its heartfelt commitment to supporting special communities. \nCultural Exploration: Blending History and Modernity\nParticipants also had the opportunity to visit the picturesque Keyuan Garden Museum\, experiencing its rich cultural heritage. The following day\, we toured the Humen Opium War Museum\, which vividly illustrates the historical impact of the Opium War. A stroll through the ancient Nanshe Ming and Qing Ancient Village revealed well-preserved architecture and a profound sense of history.\nWe extend our special thanks to our ExCo member Jeff Tse for organizing this tour. It enriched our knowledge of technology and culture while strengthening bonds among alumni. Through this tour\, we have gained a clearer understanding of the Greater Bay Area’s development and will contribute even more to its future prosperity.
