Attendees gained insights into e-commerce warehouse operations and marketing strategies\, and were impressed by the warehouse’s size and efficient automated processes for fulfilling customer orders.  \nA special thanks to our president\, Mr Teddy Liu\, for lining up this exclusive visit. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to gather a group of 25 young HKU Business School alumni at Fox in a Box Hong Kong for an exhilarating Escape Room challenge on July 27\, 2024. \nWorking together in teams\, our alumni put their communication and problem-solving skills to the test as they raced against the clock to uncover clues and solve puzzles. \nBeyond the thrill of the challenge\, the collaborative nature of the game fostered group dynamics and camaraderie among the alumni. The event provided a welcomed respite from the daily grind\, allowing our alumni to bond and get to know each other better through this unconventional form of entertainment. \nAll participants left with a commemorative polo shirt and fond memories of an afternoon well-spent. We would like to thank one of our Executive Committee member Mr. Stephen Tsang who assisted in arranging this fun and exciting game! \n

A delegation of 30 alumni from HKU Business School delved into its rich historical heritage and vibrant cultural tapestry\, and the delegation was privileged to be received by Midea Group in Foshan. \nThe tour kicked off with a visit to the historical site Yuyin Shanfang (餘蔭山房)\, a stunning ancient dwelling nestled amidst picturesque mountains and gardens. The delegation then ventured to Yong Qing Fang (永慶坊) where our alumni immersed themselves in the vibrant atmosphere\, historical houses\, and unique shops. \nA highlight of the visit was the exclusive visit to Midea Group in Foshan\, a world-leading enterprise in Smart Home Business\, Energy Solutions & Industrial Technology\, Intelligent Building Technology\, Robotics & Automation\, and Innovation Business. Upholding the company motto of “Be the Game Changer”\, our alumni gained valuable insights into the company’s cutting-edge technologies and they exchanged views on emerging opportunities presented on Greater Bay Area’s development. \nThe talent strategy of Midea Group\, which emphasizes that ‘A single talent that is beneficial to the development of our enterprise means more to us than short term profit\,’ further underscores their commitment to nurturing and retaining top talent. The session was moderated by Dean Prof. Hongbin Cai. This event was particularly significant as it coincided with the 25th anniversary of the esteemed IMBA program. We were thrilled to welcome IMBA alumni to join us for this momentous occasion. \nDean Prof. Hongbin Cai opened the event by emphasizing the importance of fostering a strong alumni network. Mr. Tung then took the stage to share his insights on the global shipping industry\, discussing his journey in his family business and the strategies they employed to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape. Prof. Chen discussed the aviation industry\, highlighting the crucial role of Hong Kong International Airport as a major aviation hub. The building\, which serves as a significant bustling commercial center\, provided a fascinating look into the thriving business landscape connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong. \nAs we strolled through the charming fishing village near Lo Wu Port – Yumin Village History Museum and Yucun Community Pilot Demonstration Area\, we were transported back in time and had the opportunity to witness the rich cultural heritage and history of the area. The guide shared intriguing stories of the village’s early days and its transformation into the thriving community it is today. \nThe afternoon was filled with exploration and discovery as we visited various cultural and historical landmarks. DESCRIPTION:On May 6\, We had the pleasure of hosting Mei Mei Ng\, General Manager\, Head of Talent Solutions of LinkedIn Hong Kong and Taiwan\, who shared with us an inspiring and informative talk centered around establishing thought leadership and executive presence using social media during this IMBA Executive Workshop for our students. Her sharing attracted business leaders and executives from various industries who were eager to learn about enhancing their personal and professional brand\, as well as their presence and impact online in the session. \nA critical aspect highlighted throughout the discussion was the importance of authenticity in thought leadership. She stressed that being genuine and true to one’s values and expertise is more effective than attempting to fit a certain style. This also fosters credibility among followers and peers. \nMs Ng also emphasized the need to stay up-to-date about industry developments and to share valuable insights with the community. She presented practical tips on developing executive presence\, including articulating ideas utilizing a leadership approach\, interesting ways to increase engagement\, and steps to building stronger relationships with industry peers\, employees\, and influencers at scale. \nOverall\, the event provided a valuable opportunity for our attendees to learn from a seasoned executive about establishing a strong presence using a social networking platform. As the digital landscape continues to evolve\, the importance of thought leadership and executive presence will only keep growing\, making workshops like this essential for those looking to remain at the forefront of their respective fields.
