The inaugural edition of the Global Reunion Alumni Dinner Talk series entitled “US-China Relations and the New Normal for Global Business” will take place on Thursday 12 January 2023 at the Artyzen Club.

Hosted by HKU Business School, we are most grateful to co-organize this talk with the Yale Club of Hong Kong to convene our respective alumni and promote international unity and collaboration in empowering tomorrow’s global leaders. We believe the Global Reunion series undoubtedly ensures a special and memorable occasion for both Yale and HKU Business School’s communities.

About the Speaker 

Professor Zhiwu Chen is Director of the Hong Kong Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (HKIHSS), Chair Professor of Finance, and Cheng Yu-Tung Professor in Development at HKU. He was Professor of Finance at Yale University (1999-2017). His research covers finance theory, the sociology of finance, economic history, emerging markets, as well as China’s economy and capital markets. He is also a frequent contributor to media publications in China on topics of economic policy, market development, and institutional reform. With over 10 million Weibo followers and 23 different book awards, his work has been widely published in major newspapers and magazines across the world. 

About the Moderator 

Mr Alan Wong is sitting on the board of Governor of the China-United States Exchange Foundation as well as the former Executive Director of the Foundation. Prior to his appointment with the Foundation, he was the Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). In his more than 30 years of service with HKTDC, he had extensive experience working both in Hong Kong and overseas including Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Panama, Paris, London, etc. 

In this insightful sharing, Prof. Chen and Mr. Wong will discuss the new and existing global challenges facing US-China relations and how businesses should respond in this new state of affairs.
