Xufei Yan (DBA 2017)

Chairman of Shenzhen Longyuan Refinement Construction Co. Ltd

In 2014, a friend encouraged me to pursue a doctoral degree. While there were institutions willing to admit me at the time, I felt hesitant and uncertain about whether to enroll in a doctoral program. I benefited a lot from a diverse network – both across industries and sectors. For example, one of the alumni I met during the Wall Climbing alumni event helped me liaise with an IT professional who is now helping me upgrade the IT infrastructure of my business. I have utilised much knowledge I obtained in classes, such as business strategy, starting from conceptualising the business, the logo, interior design, commercial models and so on.

Consumer behaviour is shifting and you need to attract people without foot traffic.

I knew from the beginning that I only wanted to apply to HKU because of the great experience I had when I studied here for my bachelors. I wanted to be in a learning environment that is new and exciting and to come out with skill sets that are practical to deploy in my career and in life. So I settled on the HKU MBA programme.
